Jeff and I were asked very nicely by the fine people at the website Portal del Sol to contribute to an on-going column called “The First Year.” What is it, you ask? Per their site:

In The First Year, four editors of magazines in their first year of publication write about what they are doing and why, and the challenges and triumphs they encounter along the way.

Jeff and I are sharing writing duties on this, and the second article is now up (written by Jeff)—I must say, it’s a fascinating read about it takes to put an issue of Midwestern Gothic together.
