Selling out in style

Okay, I guess technically this isn’t selling out because this was lightyears before Jason Alexander skyrocketed to stardom on Seinfeld, but still…this is just embarrassing.

Apparently the “hungry” young star was so desperate for work that starring in a 1985 McDonald’s commercial seemed the appropriate course of action — one promoting the most novel of all hamburgers, the McDLT (which stands for McDonald’s Lettuce and Tomato). With it’s catchphrase being “keep the hot side hot, and the cool side cool”, it’s no wonder this burger phenomenon took off…er, something.

Check out the vid which features Jason Alexander singing and dancing and a whole mess of people getting way too excited about cool lettuce that, inevitably, will be hot when you put the steaming patty on top of it.

See what I mean? How is that something worth singing and dancing over? I’ll tell you what I really miss, those Styrofoam containers everything at McD’s came in at one point. Man, you knew you were getting quality when you saw that polystyrene packaging…so good…

Ciao.
