One genius, many idiots…again
Last week, I wrote about the genius who walked out of a San Antonio jail by impersonating another inmate. Well, today comes word of a bunch of petty thieves on the lam that fell for the oldest trick in the book: fake invitations to an Ozzy Osbourne party.
Sheriff Paul Loney of Fargo, ND sent invitations to the staged party to over 500 wanted criminals. More than 30 showed up for the soiree and were subsequently arrested. Nice going guys. Seriously, what were you thinking?
First, if you’re wanted by the police, it’s best to avoid public places/gatherings in the first place. You might be able to walk around undetected at a mall or something, but a Fargo night club? Come on, get real.
Second, what on earth makes you think Ozzy Osbourne wants to hang out with you? Of all the people that might get invitations to an Ozzy Osbourne party, why do you think he would invite you? I’m sure he doesn’t know you exist and now your inflated egos just landed you in jail.
But maybe Ozzy will come to your rescue. After all, the man himself had this to say:
“Sheriff Laney should be apologising to me for using my name in connection with these arrests,” Osbourne said in a statement. “It is insulting to me and to my audience and it shows how lazy this particular sheriff is when it comes to doing his job.”
Perhaps these words will incite a mass protest against your arrest. Perhaps. But it says something about you that you fell for this in the first place. If you’re ever let out of jail, chances are you’ll end up right back there before too long.
